Our mission is to provide teaching excellence and to obtain positive results in a relaxed and convenient environment!. All staff attend regular professional development training and are committed to keeping abreast of current research and trends within the industry.
We have won the “Education and Training” Category at the Sunshine Coast Business Awards in both 2016 and 2017. Our approach to teaching and supervision has launched the careers of many practitioners and we are extremely proud of our role in mentoring and developing the next generation of Pilates and Movement specialists!
Tensegrity Studio is committed to the fundamental principles of the Pilates Method. This means that we provide access to a mind/body system of exercise designed to help you achieve flexibility, postural improvement and fitness without adding bulk. Unlike other forms of exercise Pilates focuses on movement quality not quantity, and at Tensegrity Studio we will ensure that you perform movements systematically with careful attention to breathing and development of core strength.
Pilates can be taken up at any age and the results appear rapidly. Anyone can do it, and everyone can achieve amazing results.
Pilates does not include any bouncing or jarring movements, making it the ideal form of exercise for people who, due to joint pain or muscle weakness, are reticent about beginning an exercise program.
And, given the variety of exercises in Pilates ranging from the most remedial to extremely advanced it is also suitable for the very fit who may be looking for a physical challenge.
Our Studio contains all the specialist apparatus designed by Joseph Pilates himself including the Universal Reformer, Cadillac/Wall Unit, Wunda Chair, Spine Corrector and small apparatus.
Classes are individually tailored to suit the needs of each client. In each studio session there are 2-3 people per practitioner ensuring a high level of supervision.
In order to begin work in the studio it is recommended that each new client attends two private sessions. The first is a Full Functional Assessment where the practitioner assesses posture, range of motion, strengths, weaknesses etc. This information is used to design a program of exercises which is introduced to the client in their second session. Each client has their own program which is constantly monitored and updated so that the Pilates experience has a personal framework. It is also an excellent way of working at your own pace. This means that each session can cater for an elite athlete training for peak performance or, an individual rehabilitating after an injury.
Mat work is the terminology used for non-equipment based Pilates.
Mat work provides the basis of movement that can be applied to equipment work in the studio as well as benefit daily activities. The aim of a mat work programme is to improve body awareness and alignment, gain core control, and find ample range of motion.
Each class runs for 55 mins, and is designed to be enjoyable while encouraging accurate execution of each exercise. To ensure personal attention and safety, classes have a maximum of 10 participants.
They are a fantastic way of exercising in a friendly group atmosphere.
Group Reformer is a great way of applying equipment work in the studio to healthy bodies. Group Reformer classes improve body strength, awareness and alignment while building core strength.
Each class runs for 55 mins, and is designed to be enjoyable while encouraging accurate execution of each exercise.
Injuries can lead to postural faults through the protection of an injured area. Pilates is an excellent method for addressing imbalances and promoting proper alignment. A rehabilitation program will restore balanced function, stretch and tone affected muscles while strengthening the weaker muscles so that they are restored to their pre-injury strength. This process ensures that once injured areas are strengthened that the entire body’s muscular system is fully integrated in all movements and health is restored.
During and after pregnancy, it is important to focus on a healthy mind and body for you and your baby.
Specific exercises are taught to strengthen the pelvic floor and maintain pelvic stability. These exercises are useful preparation for the birth as well as a superb way to tone up afterwards.

Somatic Movement Therapy is the psychotherapeutic use of movement as a method, which effectively improves emotional and physical health. Tracey believes that moving our body in creative and expressive ways in a non-threatening environment generates therapeutic healing and empowerment. This lead to her developing her very own training method – Somatic Movement Therapy which combines movement, tactile and verbal therapies.
Sessions are designed to enhance clients’ true potential and well-being. The movement work helps give language to the non-verbal elements that are communicated through movement but not yet consciousnessly understood.
In each session you may experience the benefits of the mind-body connection through imagery, movement and touch. Our imagery will provide the brain with the feedback it needs to create improved ease of movement, flexibility and strength. We apply this movement framework to health, pilates, dance, rehabilitation, somatics and psychotherapy.
Tensegrity Studio also hosts regular workshops for practitioners and anyone interested in movement.
